My 5 Favorite Holiday Songs

I love this time of year. Although it has been a little more challenging this year to get into the holiday spirit because of everything that has gone on the past 4-5 months. Still here are my favorite 5 songs that get me into the Christmas Spirit.

1.) Hey Santa By Carnie and Wendy Wilson

Strangely this was one of the first Christmas songs I fell in love with. This song is sung by Carnie and Wendy Wilson. When I was younger I even choreographed a dance to go along with it. I still remember part of that dance too and it’s been over 1102

2.) Anything Mannheim Steamroller

For as long as I can remember I grew up listening to Mannheim Steamroller around Christmas time and honestly it doesn’t feel like Christmas unless I’m listening to it. I even had a chance to go to a concert they had while I was in Chattanooga.

Happy Epiphany

Although we remember Christ’s birth on Christmas day, we remember on the day of the Epiphany the Magi coming to adore Jesus. They came giving Gold, Frankincense and Myrrh. Gold is a gift given to Kings, Frankincense is incense, used for worship (He is the Son of God and they believe him to be), and finally Myrrh was the gift that recognized his human side. It is usually used on an individual as an anointing oil when the child is first born, helps keep the smell down when they have died and I believe it had been used in Ancient Egypt as well for mummification (don’t quote me on the last part).

Why is this a big deal?

Think about 3 Wise Men, probably not of the same faith, all came to pay homage to a little baby in a stable (probably what we would think of as a cave), all bowing and kneeling, and they risked their necks and Herod’s anger. Would you do it for a baby that was supposedly the Son of God? How many of us would actually believe it?

  • Melchior (also Melichior), a Persian scholar;
  • Caspar (also Gaspar, Jaspar, Jaspas, Gathaspa,and other variations), an Indian scholar;
  • Balthazar (also Balthasar, Balthassar, and Bithisarea), an Arabian scholar.

So today is the day we celebrate the recognition that Jesus is getting from the outside world. From three scholars no less.

Basic Japanese CDs for my boyfriend and I from his Sister, traditionally made Japanese shoes ( I don’t know what they are called, if you know please let me know), a scarf, a wristlet purse, and the rectangle with the sea painted on is actually a mirror on the other side.

My mom says there is another gift in the mail for me that has yet to arrive so you will just have to wait for pics of that.

After we opened presents we relaxed for a few hours until the stuffing war commenced. Every year around Thanksgiving and Christmas my father and I battle it out to see who will get the first bite of stuffing. This Christmas I won! I was very happy.

Soon after the stuffing war was over we had dinner. It was excellent.

From back left to right, like you are reading a book -In the far back on the left is a cheesy cheesy broccoli casserole ( really delicious), homemade apple pie right next to it, cranberry and mandarin oranges, rolls, pepper cabbage (its northern thing), regular cranberry in the weird turkey class container, sweet potatoes, turkey in the center of the table, green beans, cole slaw, gravy, and at the corner of the photo stuffing!!!!!

It was a wonderful Christmas. I can’t believe it’s already over. I hope you had a wonderful Christmas!

What did you get for Christmas? What did you do for Christmas? Let me know in the comments below!

What I Want for Christmas

Although I have a long list of things I would like to get posted to My Christmas List board on Pinterest it’s not what I really truly want for Christmas.  My parents always ask and for the past few years they aren’t sure as to what to get for me, so I pinned items I like. In reality the things I want no one can give it to me.

What Do I Wish for Christmas:

  1. I wish for a car so that way my parents, boyfriend and friends don’t have to sacrifice their time and schedule to take me places. I am trying to save money, but other things get in the way. I want to use it to take me to an extra job and to relieve the burden off my parents of having to take me places.
  2. I wish to Pay off My College Loans- The longer I am in college, the more loans I have. I’m afraid to see how much debt I will have and it depresses me. What I rely on isn’t enough anymore and I’m scared for my future. I have to take care of my parents and brother one day, I can’t have this hanging over my head.
  3. I wish that my grandmother wouldn’t be in pain every day- between the arthritis and past chemo treatments I can tell she is getting tired and she is sore every single day.
  4. I wish my dad wouldn’t suffer anymore- between a heart disease, a rare autoimmune disease, and his recent stroke. I just want him to be healthy and not have to live with all that. He too is tired.
  5. I wish my mother wasn’t in constant pain from all the times people have ran into her car and before you go and say it was her fault. It wasn’t!! My mother is a very safe driver and she shouldn’t have constant muscle pain from idiots that don’t watch where they are going while on the road.
  6. I wish my brother could communicate with my family- he has autism and I just wish we could be closer. I wish we could all be closer to him, it feels like a constant struggle.
  7. I wish my boyfriend can find the money and courage to go to grad school- I know things have been challenging for him, I just wish he can believe in himself.
  8. I wish my dog didn’t have lupus- although I am glad we are getting another Christmas with her, we thought we were going to lose her. Still she is old and I know it’s only a matter of time
  9. I wish to not have constant depression and anxiety- it’s ruining my life. It’s starting to affect my schooling, my work, etc. It’s awful and because of my past I have a harder time going to see someone. I just want to be happy. I just want to not feel this way every single day. I try to work past it, but I can’t tell you how difficult it is, it’s like trying to jump over a wall that has no ledges, ladder, rope, or anything to help you.
  10. I wish to have peace with myself- I know peace on Earth is impossible, but maybe if I find peace with myself I could help find peace with everything else.

That is all I want for Christmas.
