Wastefully Defiant Individuals

I am all for going against the grain and not going with what anyone tells me. I question, I research, and I annoy people as a result. I want to understand and leaner everything. I am not just a go with the crowd kind of person.

My issue is that I get annoyed when people are being purposefully defiant just because they can or just out of spite. When they are teenagers its understandable, when they are adults over the age of 20…..it’s sad to say the least.

Well all know those people in our lives. Whether they are friends, family members, or classmates they always have that one person they feel they must go against or do the exact opposite of given advice.

They are the kind of person that if you tell them the house was on fire and they needed to get out for their safety, they in turn would say the fire was misunderstood and that you are exaggerating the situation.  Or if you told them to not go into the house, the would go into the house thinking the house just needs a talking to.

This wouldn’t be a bad in their eyes.

It can be difficult to try to help these people especially as they continuously make one bad decision after another despite they fact you have given them advice and help that could have prevented the current situation.

It almost gets to the point that they want to prove you wrong, despite the fact they have done such a poor job to begin with, it almost becomes pitiful to witness.

It can also drive you mad as well, for when you give them advice they seem to bury their heads like Ostriches in the sand or like a 5 year old putting their fingers in their ears saying “La la la” really loud to drown you out.

And all you feel at the end is irritation and you wonder why you talk to this person.

Unfortunately when dealing with people who live to be defiant against logic and reason there really isn’t much to do besides pray that they stop acting like rebellious teenagers even though they are beyond that age.  We can be upfront and honest with them all we like, but they will continue to be Ostriches that bury their heads in the sand while the house around them is on fire.

Do you have anyone in your life that is like this? What do you do to try to not feel irritated? Let me know in the comments below!
